GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE COMPETITOR

Description

This building is designed with two main purposes:

The First is to provide a dense, vibrant environment where people would have the opportunity to Live, be Employed, interact with each other and their surroundings to become part of what can be a stimulating public life;

The Second is to address sustainability issues now being faced by all us with the current situation of the warming planet and dwindling fuel supplies, in an effort to reduce the structures impact on the environment and allow the building to generate as much of its own energy as possible.nment

The Structure contains nine stories above ground and three below (Parking & Utility):

The First Floor is comprised of retail shops and services, The Second & Third Floors contain Office and Commercial Space for Businesses; The Fourth Floor acts as an elevated sidewalk which provides an inviting area for the public to walk and enjoy and for businesses to create patio space and retail uses without interfering with the through traffic of the street below; The Fifth Floor contains non-market housing; Sixth to Ninth Floors are Residential units. A public passage crosses through the center of the building leading through a 100ft Atrium lined with benches and boutique style shops.

The Leafs are a light penetrable Algae Farms that absorb Carbon Dioxide created by traffic on the roads surrounding the building, collection of rainwater is also achieved providing grey water requirements for the building. Collected water can be evaporated and condensed to produce potable water for the building and Algae collected from the farm are converted into Bio fuel to provide for the heating, cooling & hot water. Water is transferred to the Utility Plant through the Atrium where it is heated using bio-fuel, steam travels up the Transparant Column in the Atrium turning generators to Produce Electricity.
