The concept of this cabin design was based on passive solar principals. The design is linear with a large window at the south façade and a concrete mass wall at the north. The goal with the mass wall is to collect heat from the south window and the wood burning stove and gradually distribute it when the heat supply is low. The berm on the north and east facades will act as a geothermal heat source. It will keep a consistent temperature while protecting the two walls from the elements.

The interior is a simple linear symmetrical gathering space. A few feet from the entrance are two couches on the east and west walls. These couches serve two purposes; one being a hang out spot and the other as a frame for a folding Murphy bed. The bed sits vertically when not in use. In order to accompany a sleeping station during the sunlight hours, a half wall system will be used to divide the sleeping area and desks. The desks will be mounted to the southern wall below the window for best day lighting use. The space will be efficient and practical.
