One Path for All - From entrance to pool, without barriers
The main idea of the project is to rethink the interior space of the swimming pool by creating a single, inclusive route from the entrance doors to the pool basin. This route is designed to be equally comfortable for all visitors, regardless of whether they require mobility aids. The new layout eliminates the separation of user groups: everyone enters through the same doors.
The entrance is now located on the side of the building, allowing access to the sports complex from outside via staircases integrated into gentle ramp inclines. The long corridor with many steps and complex navigation for wheelchair users should be removed and replaced with a functional side entrance.
Each visitor should have access to an information board to help orient themselves among the sports sections. This should be placed in the ground floor foyer, in the same area as the ticket counter. From here, visitors I can choose where to go next: to the swimming pool or to the stadium.
Now for the ascent to the upper level. Stairs or elevator? Each person decides based on their physical abilities. The elevator cabin, like the staircase, is a necessary interior element in the design. It can be integrated next to the staircase, wrapping gracefully around the elevator shaft.
Upon reaching the second-floor foyer, visitors will find a multifunctional area with services available while waiting for a swimming session. Comfortable conditions and a wide range of options are provided: a café, shops, and a relaxation area.
The new layout eliminates the traditional gender-based division of visitors, a practice still common in many public spaces, to ensure that LGBT + individuals feel equally comfortable alongside all other guests. Each person is provided with a private changing cabin, while shower rooms and toilets are offered as male, female, a n d mixed-gender options, giving everyone the freedom to choose.
