Stage 2

The first floor of the buildings would allow for the insertion of commercial spaces in order to provide local services to the residents and create animation in the neighborhood.

Bicycle path
The proposed bicycle path on de la Savane Street will be built on Paré Street instead, thus skirting the new linear park and connecting it to the two metro stations, Namur and de la Savane.

Bixi
Bixi stations will be planned along the new bike path.

In the first stage of the competition, the proposal that preceded this service was selected for the following reasons an assertive entrance to the neighbourhood from Victoria Avenue, which enters the sector in depth; a well-resolved internal circulation loop; the close relationship of the building to the street; a fairly accurate scale of the public space; the decision to completely free up Savane Park; the potential for a better connection between Paré Street and Victoria Avenue; the division of the super-islands by the addition of pedestrian and vehicular routes, producing a finer grid.

On the other hand, the jury expressed reservations regarding : the unconvincing road layout, particularly with the addition of a lane that increases the presence of the automobile rather than reducing it; the unclear links between the center of the sector and its periphery; the dubious benefit of the widening of Paré Street, with a central island surrounded by two vehicular lanes, the occupancy of which is unlikely and the advantages of which are not well understood; poor formal and spatial articulation and the lack of continuity between Paré Street and Victoria Avenue.

When it came time to make an initial judgment on the performance of this proposal, the jury was unanimously disappointed to note the lack of development of the project, the few improvements made in relation to the previous stage, the addition of certain solutions that were less convincing than in the first stage - in particular, the unresolved and unwelcome traffic circle - as well as the general level that fell short of expectations. The hearing allowed the jury to confirm the impression that this performance was significantly out of step with the rest of the project, both in terms of the ideas behind it and its rendering.
