Description

The meeting zone captures the imagination with a strong, unified gesture, like a great European square. The ground motif of a graphic arrow pointing towards Place Valois sets the tone for everything! Its shape clearly defines vehicular, cyclist and pedestrian traffic zones by demarcating the two tones of the pattern, identical in color and size to the Place Valois paving. The pattern also reinforces the orientation of the old railroad, guiding users to move towards the square. The area is defined as an atypical place that contrasts with its surroundings yet integrates with them. The crossroads becomes an extension of the public square, the beacon of the neighborhood.

The shared street is on one level to accommodate all kinds of activities, including a stage that opens onto the intersection of the two streets. The single-level layout facilitates multi-purpose use. Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists share the space in an organized way, as the oriented pattern clearly defines the paths of travel.
