THE FAULT
Carabins - One Family, One Path
Drawing inspiration from the slogan "the strength of the mountain," our proposal is rooted in the soul of Mount Royal. By carving a fault line into the rock, we envision a radical and symbolic architectural intervention. This fault line becomes the sole entrance to CEPSUM, a multisensory, inclusive journey leading to victory.
1. Level Zero - Shared Threshold
The experience begins on Édouard-Montpetit Boulevard. Whether on foot, in a wheelchair, with a stroller, by metro or REM, a single threshold welcomes each user.
2. The Tailgate - Lively Public Space
The preserved century-old tree becomes a landmark. The excavated topography reveals the core of Mount Royal, creating a lively agora with kiosks, adaptive furniture, and a ticket stand.
3. The Fault - Experience the Sublime
A five-meter corridor flanked by colossal concrete walls. The energy of the fans is concentrated here, amplified by the trickling water on the walls and the experience of the sublime.
4. The Tower - Point of Convergence
At the end of the fault, a vertical tower houses two elevators and two staircases served by a circular airlock that acts as a reassuring space.
5. The Bridge - The Guiding Line
A horizontal gesture crosses the bleachers to distribute them and offer accessible seats. This floating pathway creates a premium view for sunsets.
The Power of the Mountain, a Sensory Guide
The brutalist intervention reveals rock as a material that conveys identity and power. The ritual performed by supporters involves crossing the fault line and confronting the imposing concrete walls, down which water and light flow from the summit.
One Path, One Experience
This principle applies to differentiated access. Everyone follows the same route, without distinction, without spatial hierarchy. This continuous line guarantees a shared experience, accessible to all from the moment they enter. Everyone to the fault... towards the summit!

The jury considered this proposal clear, with a fast and direct route and a pleasing simplicity. The integration into the context is harmonious. However, the proposal does not add any space to the bleachers and remains limited in terms of functionality. The walls could be more permeable to allow views, and the addition of a roof could be considered. Overall, it does not fully address the access issues. The jury noted that access is shown at only one level.
